Sometimes I get to know on a few important things while I am passing time with social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. Current Egypt crisis I first read in Twitter and then while facebooking I came across on a protest planned in-front of Jantar Mantar, Delhi (Justice not done for Arushi and Hemrajs’ brutal killing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noida_double_murder_case) and several other places across the country. As I am in Noida, I planned to take part of it along with a few friends here, though some other friends warned me saying there might be chance for stampede as it took place in the case of Jessica Lal’s protest, but I made up my mind the moment I have seen it; that I should take part of it and kept it on so that the rest of my gang won’t drop. As I stuck up with some other pre-planned stuff we could not start on time but we did start after a little while and reached the place quickly (no traffic rule violated). A couple of things that we saw there have really disappointed and shocked us; hardly a bunch of protesters, police were in huge number, there is no photo of Arushi/Hemraj near by, then we tried to find out that by any chance the crowd wrapped it up quickly, then we went to see how many candles were lit; less than a hundred; people were joking around and taking photos with different sad poses (reminds me Page3 movie). Just opposite there was another group conducting prayer for Dalai Lama (he and his political successor are in limelight and news channels keep talking again), this group was much bigger and I see unity and dedication in them. Then we came back to our protest area and done with our prayers and quickly moved out from that place as we could not stand for an extra minute there, as it turned out to be a time passing event for some Delhites and a good reason for their photography skills. What surprised me most was the government expected more protesters and sent vans of cops but the realty turned out be a bizarre, even the police were standing and laughing at the event, of course I didn’t expect any other expression from them. On Jan 6th also a protest held for the same and the participants were less than 50 as per The Hindu. Out of all this, what I see is lack of sincerity in people towards what they say and what they do. I am not saying every one of us should stand for the people for whom just has not been done; it is an individual call, no poking in their lives. One of the important principles of life is, if you can help others; please do; if you can’t at least don’t harm. All the revolutions in history have started with a few people and then gathered millions against the wrong done. But we are in the era of Information Technology, the information passes at nanosecond speed but the people reaction is at snail speed, this is where I see the need for sincerity and compassion.
